Gothic Innocence {Review}

Gothic Innocence is a company of handmade crafts and promote beauty in simplicity and innocence with gothic inspirations. They also recycle and show green living in their crafts as much as possible.

Also, with the proceeds from their sales, they donate to various charities from time to time.  They also use the money for two of their three children that have serious medical issues.  Which I pray and wish them the best.

I was pleased to receive one of their handcrafted pieces.  The pin I received is very light in weight, and the handy work is nice and neat.  I know this is not a pin I would use every day, but definitely something I would wear around Halloween.  My 11 year old son thought it was pretty cool, but too girly for him.  I am sure tween girls would love this pin.  Maybe pin it to a hair tie and use it as hair decor, on their backpack or on a pair of gloves.  Possibilities are really endless.
Looking through their products, they really do have some beautiful products.  They can be made as pins, necklaces and even chokers. You can browse through their different varieties on their Facebook page.

Oh and wait!  Gothic Innocence has graciously offered to give away their wonderful work to 17, yes 17, winners!! How awesome is that?
Giveaway will end on 5/27/12 @ 11:59pm EST

Review: Susan Brown’s Natural Skin Care

I love using baby products on my children for as long as they will let me.  My 4yr old daughter is the only one that is still allowing me to do so.  I was pretty excited when I got to try some of Susan Brown’s products.
Her Father is a chemist of over 30 years and has worked with companies such as Estee Lauder, Chanel and Neutrogena!  Pretty cool, huh?

Anyways, I could not wait to open my package as soon as it arrived to see I had gotten.  I immediately smelled the shampoo & body wash, and truly enjoyed the smell.  It had that baby smell we all love so much.  Like a freshly bathed lil one. Gave me a little bit of baby fever – just a little.  No more babies for me though, we are done in that department.
Well, we tried the shampoo& body wash that evening and as a body wash it is great!  Left my daughter smelling great.  They only thing I am not too thrilled about is that when you squeeze the bottle, it is runny and then all of a sudden here comes the foam.  It gets a little runny as soon as it hits the liquid and then slides off the washcloth/hand.  And as far as using it as a shampoo, it would most likely be more effective on a baby with very little hair.  It did not foam well in all of my daughter’s hair, and had to use more than I usually would intend to.  It also left her hair pretty dried out and even with detangler in her hair, very ard to comb.  So, great for a little hair and the body!!

I also received some samples of other products, which included Susan Brown’s Lotion to Powder, Diaper Therapy Ointment, Botanical Gelee, Nourishing Lotion and Hand Sanitizer, which I loved  them all!  I will be honest, I did not try the Diaper ointment nor the Botanical Gelee, as I do not have a baby to use them on, nor a reason to use them for my children.  I did pass them on to a great Friend of mine and she said they were great.  Went on smoothly, smelled great and she fell in love!

You can find Susan Brown’s products on their Website, Babys R Us and Amazon!

Recipe: Pizza Pockets

Ingredients:

2 pouches of pizza dough
(or any dough you choose to use)
Pizza sauce
Toppings of choice
Shredded cheese

I make the dough as recommended, then spread it out on a pan.  On half of it (leaving about half an inch on the edge without sauce, etc) spread sauce, your toppings and cheese.

Fold the dough without sauce, etc over the half that has everything and tuck under the edges to make it closed all the way around.

Put in the oven at 350 for about 20-25 min – until golden brown and done.  I then sprinkle some cheese on top and put back in until cheese is melted.

Let cool and cut into pocket sized pieces and enjoy!

Creative Steps – Spark your Imagination

Magazines, either you love em or you hate em!  I love em as long as they are useful to me.  I was so thrilled when I walked to my mailbox and saw a new magazine in there for me to check out!  There were two, so I grabbed one and my daughter took off with the other.  I was immediately hooked and looked through the magazine for half an hour. There were tons of recipes, projects, and so many pictures!

The recipes have great pictures of the food you are making and easy step by step directions. I know the kids have already gone through the magazines a hundred times wanting to make every recipe they see.  They tell me it all looks so delicious!

I love how all the pages are so colorful and have so many different projects.  Another aspect of the magazine that is awesome – they have actual patterns for the projects in the back!  How cool!  I love how much easier this makes a project.

And the variety of projects is endless.  Not only are there girl-friendly crafts, there are boy activities as well and great for all ages 0-11 and beyond! They have farm animals, flowers, Mother and Father day activities and so much more.  You can definitely make many memories and spend tons of Family time together with these magazines.

And, in the midst of it all, they have glorious children book recommendations.  My kids also have a nice list of books they found in these magazines they want.

This magazine would not only be great for Families, this would be great for Teachers, Nannies, Daycares, Scout Leaders and even Babysitters.

And, be sure to check out the Creative Steps website as well.  They also have project templates, a project of the month and more!
